Baked Wrapped Pomfret

Menu tonite from MIL's recipe. According to her, in kampung this is a popular way of cooking non-fresh fish. Locally this is called "pais" but wrapped with palm leaf.

Here is photo of non-cooked fish with the 'bumbu', ready to be wrapped & baked:
I baked mine in my Morgan multi-cooker (becoming more indispensable now) which is easier than on griddle as I don't have to worry to flip frequently:
INGREDIENTS:
1-2 Pomfret
1 Lime
2 Shallots*
1 clove Garlic*
1 Lemongrass*
1-2 Red Chili*
Few Bird-eye Chili*

Some fresh grated Coconut* (* pounded)
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Turmeric leaf**
Few Daun Cengkil**
(** sliced finely)
Salt, sugar
Banana Leaf

METHOD:
1. Rub fish with lime, salt & turmeric powder.
Marinate for a while.

2. Mix all the rest of ingredients to make the 'bubu'.

3. Place fish on a piece of banana leaf & sprinkle the bubu.
Wrap & secure ends with tooth picks.
Bake or place on a griddle.
(In kampung, this cooked over charcoal or wooden stove)
Flip occasionally
until cook.

Little Liana 2 1/2 Months

A bit of history... we called our baby Little Liana as she was born very tiny 2.5kg. Now she is no longer tiny in comparison to other babies of her age. She has put on an average of 1.5kg/month in the last two months. Anyway, we still want to call her Little Liana as she is the tiniest in our house.

Here is the latest photo, posing on a rocking chair which is a present from loving Auntie Yani. Hope you will read this. "Thank-you very much Auntie... I love rocking with the chair & when I grow up, will sure like to join Kakak Yasmin & Kakak Azalea playing or go strolling....hehehe. I love the toys from Kakak Yasmin & Azalea chose for me....mmmmuah! TQ...."
The rocking chair has a set of hanging toys and vibration unit at the bottom to calm the baby.... Toys from Auntie Yani's daughters, Kakak Azalea & Kakak Yasmin. (You should see the two girls. Unfortunately I have not got their photos. They have beautiful long, thick & curly hair!): Yang ni pulak, spesel posing khas untuk Auntie Zana, Tante Amy dan makcik2 sekalian yang selalu jenguk2 kat sini.... Entah nape arini baby takde mood nak senyum. Puas dah usik2 pun monyok jer....
Little Liana likes to make bubbles.... I wiped her several times and she made new ones...! Here are two big bubbles for Auntie Zana.... mmmmuah!
