A friend introduced this cake to me which she brought back few pieces from her friend's house. She told me the cake was ordered from Brunei and a very popular cake in that country. It tasted so good that I decided to search for the recipe and found several but picked this one which contain the ingredients that I'm looking for. It turned out very similar taste to the one I had from my friend..... awesome! Here it is sharing with all of you.

Yields: 8" square
INGREDIENTS:
200g Butter
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Condensed Milk
2 large Eggs
3 cup Nestum* + extra for topping
3 cup Vico*
2 tbsp Horlicks* (* combined)
1 packet / 350g Chocolate Marie Biscuits - break into 4
METHOD:
1. Line tin with non-stick baking paper.
2. Whisk sugar, condensed milk & eggs until welll combined.
3. Melt butter in a wok & add egg mixture and stir until slightly thickened.
Add in Vico mixture* and mix well.
Add in biscuits and mix well.
4. Quickly, press into prepared tin before the batter get harden.
Sprinkle on top with excess nestum.
5. Cool completely (at room or in fridge) before slicing.

Kek yang tersangat lah sedap.... kek ni popular di negara Brunei... ala-ala kek batik juga. Sahabat Along bawa balik beberapa ketul sewaktu dia makan khenduri dia teringat kat Along.... cayang nya sahabat ku...mmmuah2 maceh. Sedap sangat so Along pun cari resipi nya dan terjumpa beberapa resipi tapi Along cuba versi ni sebab ada bahan2 yang sama seperti Along makan tu. Rasa nya amat serupa, so dgn sukacita nya Along kongsikan dengan semua kawan2 di sini.

3 cwnp Vico*
2 sb Horlicks* (* campur)
1 bungkus / 350g Biskut Marie Coklat - patah 4
CARA2:
1. Lapik tin dgn kertas baking.
2. Pukul gula, susu pekat & telur sehingga sebati.
3. Cairkan butter dlm kuali.
Masukkan bancuhan telur tadi, kacau sehingga pekat sedikit.
Masukkan campuran Vico* & gaul sebati & pekat.
Masukkan biskut & gaul rata.
4. Tekan ke dalam tin yg telah di sediakan tadi.
Tabur atas nya dgn lebihan nestum.
5. Sejukkan di suhu bilik / petisejuk sebelum di potong.

Hi Roz, my cake turned out to be chewy and dry.Is it supposed to be like that?

ReplyDeleteThe batter that coats the biscuits not supposed to be chewy and should not be overcooked so that it stays moist. Make sure you do not put too much biscuits otherwise not enough batter to coat. Hope this helps.
