It has been quite a while not showing off my Kek Lapis (Sarawak Layered Cake)... Today I just baked one... which am preparing for our family away day this week end. My nephew requested for Cadbury Layered Cake whislt Pandan Layered Cake has always been most popular amongst my relatives. To please all, I simply combined both flavor into one instead of having to make two separate cakes.... clever eh... LOL.
For the recipe, you can translate from the BM version below.

Assalamualaikum buat yang sudi menjenguk blog Along yang dah usang ni.... Tetiba rasa nak update blog... Dah lama tak tayang kek lapis kat sini... Kebetulan harini Along baru jer siapkan sebiji kek lapis untuk bawa bekal Percutian Hari Keluarga hujung minggu ini. Ada yg minta buatkan Kek Lapis Cadbury tapi ramai lak yang suka Kek Lapis Pandan.... so senang cerita satukan jer dua2 tu jadi lah kek yang tertera hari ini.... heheee.... jimat waktu tak payah nak buat dua biji kek kan...!
Ini resepi fevret Along sebab kek lapis ini adalah yg paling simple bahan2 nya. Kalau tak percaya boleh bandingkan dgn resepi2 kek lapis yang Along pernah share sebelum ini tetapi hasil nya amat sedap tak muak dan kek yg lembab.

450g Mentega
160g Gula Halus
10 biji Telur gred A
1 cwn Susu Pekat
200g Horlicks*
220g Tepung Gandum* (* campur)
Pandan Paste
1 bungkus Coklat Cadbury - cincang
CARA2:
1. Pukul mentega dan gula sehingga kembang & putih.
2. Masukkan telur sebiji-sebiji sambil di pukul rata.
3. Masukkan susu pekat sambil dan di pukul sehingga sebati.
4. Akhir sekali masukkan campuran tepung* sambil di putar perlahan.
5. Bahagi adunan kepada dua bahagian dan campurkan pes pandan ke dalam satu bahagian.
6. Ratakan 6 sudu makan adunan pandan ke dalam tin dan panggang sehingga keperangan. Ulangi bakar selapis demi selapis sehingga habis.
7. Lapiskan pula dgn adunan yg tiada warna sehingga habis. Tabur potongan coklat pada setiap lapisan ketiga.

Fruity Yogurt Cake ( Kek Yogurt Buah )
I made something nice yesterday and so happened I have little spare time today plus am in the right mood for blogging. UsuRaz has been nagging me for this cake for the last one week... both him and the father always craving for something sweet after dinner meals and if I do not entertained them, they will find an alternative from the supermarket.... something I don't encourage the family to do so!
So here is the recipe to share with all readers. The cake is buttery with nice creamy texture from the yogurt... so soft and moist that melt in mouth despite no baking powder in the recipe. Usually I made this plain but adding some dried fruits will give it delightful bites... choice is yours whether plain or fruity. Perhaps it is a bit sweet if you are conscious on sugar consumption, feel free to reduce.

Yields: Loaf pan 8.5" x 5"
INGREDIENTS:
125g Butter
1 cups Castor Sugar (can reduce)
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
3 Eggs
1¼ cup Flour
1/3 cup Plain Yogurt
1/2 cup Dried fruits (optional)
METHOD:
1. Cream butter, sugar & VE until light & fluffy.
Add in egg one by one until combined.
Add in half flour & half yogurt alternately.
2. Pour into lined & greased tin.
3. Bake at 160-170C for 1¼ hr until done.

Dah lama sangat tak timbul.... Sekali-sekala curi sedikit masa untuk berkongsi resipi... Ini Along ada satu resipi yang sedap... rasa butter dan lembut dan lembab walau pun takda campuran baking powder. Pekena dgn kopi pekat memang best ni. Campuran yogurt akan membuatkan kek lembab dan lembut ala-ala cheesecake... kek simple camni tak jemu makan berulang-ulang.

Kek Horlicks Sarawak
This is my first entry this year and let's pray that I could do more entries than the past years... Life is good and 'relaxing' and yet too little time to do many things that need to be done in life....
I made this cake quite some time ago but it is so good that I thought I should share here. I made a little blunder when I left the steamer until really dry that I had a burn crust at the bottom. Luckily it does not affect the texture and taste.

INGREDIENTS:
225g Butter
50ml Sugar
5 Eggs
200ml Condensed Milk
100ml Sekaya
100ml Flour

200ml Horlicks
METHOD:
1. Beat butter & sugar until fluffy & white.
Add in egg one by one while beating.
Add in milk, sekaya, flour, ovalet, VE & horlicks - mix well each addition.
2. Steam 2 hours until done.

CARAMEL ICING
As promised, I'm sharing the caramel icing recipe that I made in the last entry. Apology for not having specific photo of the caramel... try it yourself and hopefully the recipe below will help you to obtain nice deep color and tasty caramel.
Delicious topping/filling for butter cake and most recommended for those who dislike butter or other sweet toppings. See here for Butter Cake recipe that I made earlier.

INGREDIENTS :
3/4 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Boiling water
1 cup Evaporated milk
1/2 cup Fresh milk
3 large Egg yolks
3 tbsp Cornstarch
1/4 cup Butter
1 tsp Vanilla extract
METHOD:
METHOD:
1. Allow sugar to
cook in a small saucepan over medium heat, swirling pan, until golden.
Add boiling water carefully, simmer until sugar is
melted.
Add evaporated milk. Cook, whisking, until mixture
boils.
2. Combine fresh
milk, yolks, and cornstarch in a bowl.
Whisk in some of the hot caramel to temper yolks.
Pour yolk mixture back into caramel.
Whisk on low heat until thick.
3. Remove from heat.
Add butter and vanilla.
Stir until butter is melted and mixture has some
sheen.
Strain icing if you see lumps.
4. Gradually pour
caramel icing onto the center of the cake.
Let icing drip down the sides. Gently shake rack to
distribute icing. Use an offset spatula to even it out.
Allow to set for 30 minutes in the refrigerator
before decorating.

1. Cairkan gula dlm periuk. Goyang2kan periuk utk masak rata sehingga gula keperangan.
Masukkan air panas dgn hati2 & masak sehingga gula cair.
Masukkan sus evaporated dan masak sehingga mendidih.
2. Satukan susu segar, telur kuning & tpg jagung di dlm mangkuk.
Masukkan sesenduk caramel dan gaul rata.
Tuangkan kesemua adunan ke dlm periuk karamel dan masak dgn api perlahan, sambil di kacau, sehingga pekat.
3. Padamkan api, masukkan butter dan kacau sehingga berkilat.
4. Tuangkan ke atas kek dan ratakan.
Sejukkan dlm petisejuk 30 minit sebelum di hias.

Best Ever Buttercake
Year end is approaching very soon then I realized I had only
one entry this year which was in January…. indeed it was such a long break.
There are many recipes to share but I still have not sorted many things in my
new place yet and most of all still unable to get Telekom Malaysia to fix my
phone line… what a pity… almost three years my application still not processed
despite many follow ups. Can you believe that I'm living in the middle of Taiping town
but unable to get a telephone line with so many excuses that hard to understand….
Anyway, while I have this little opportunity let’s focus on
the food instead of the miserable phone line story…
It was my mother’s 78th birthday recently and her
choice is always homemade butter cake. This recipe is a keeper and have been
served few times in the family…. simple and buttery taste with soft and moist
texture.
The difficult part (or rather easy part?) she dislikes
creamy or buttery icing! The difficult part is how to make it special for the
occasion or at least presentable if it is simply a bare cake? Of course it will
be easy if it is simply bare…. So, this time I came up with caramel icing which
matched very well with butter cake. It was a delicious topping and lickable….
LOL. I didn’t have the time to put up a fancy decoration but store-bought
flowers were enough to make my mother smiled on the day….

Light Banana Cake (Kek Pisang Gebu)
I’m very please with the outcome of this…. Very light and
fluffy cake with rich banana taste…. In a simple word I say it is delicious!!!
It is so very easy to make…. dump all the ingredients and zap the mixer…. the
batter is ready in less than 5 minutes!

Steamed Brownies and Cheesecake (Kek Lapis Kukus Cream Cheese)
Who can resist brownies and cheesecake…. Combine the two and you’ll get a perfect compliments…. Moreover make it Asian way by steaming…. It produces soft and moist most delicious dessert that no words can describe enough…..!!

Yields: 8” round
INGREDIENTS - CHEESECAKE:
250g Cream cheese
60g Fine Sugar
1 Egg
1 tbsp Water
1 tbsp Flour
METHOD:
Beat cream cheese &
sugar until smooth.
Add in egg and whisk
until well mixed.
Add in water &
flour and mix well.
INGREDIENTS - BROWNIE:
2 Eggs
1 cup Fine Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
A pinch of Salt
½ cup Boiling Water
½ cup Milk
½ cup Oil
1 cup Flour*
3 tbsp Cocoa Powder*
1 tsp Baking Soda*
½ tsp Baking Powder* (*
combine& sift)
METHOD:
Whisk egg &
sugar until frothy.
Add in VE & salt.
Add in hot water,
milk & oil.
Add in flour
mixture*.
Stir well in each
addition above.
COOKING METHOD:
1. Line & grease
tin.
2. Steam above medium
heat, half of the brownie mixture for 15-20 minutes, until the surface is dry
to touch.
3. Pour cream cheese
mixture on top and continue steaming for another 15-20minutes.
4. Finally pour the
remaining half of the brownie batter and steam another 30 minutes until done.
5. Cool cake before
inverting.

2 bj Telur
1 cwn Gula Halus
1 st Esen Vanilla
Secubit Garam
1/2 cwn Air Panas Didih
1/2 cwn Susu Segar / Cair
1/2 cwn Minyak Sayuran
1 cwn Tepung Gandum*
3 sb Serbuk Koko*
1 st Baking Soda*
1/2 st Baking Powder* (*satukan & ayak)
CARA2:
Pukul telur & gula sehingga kembang.
Gaulkan esen vanilla dan garam.
Masukkan air panas, susu dan minyak.
Masukkan campuran tepung* dan gaul sebati.
Bahagi dua bahagian.
CARA2 MEMASAK:
1. Sediakan tin yg di alas kertas dan di gris. Panaskan
air kukusan dgn api sederhana.
2. Tuang 1 bahagian adunan coklat dan kukus selama 15-20
minit (permukaan nya kering).
3. Tuang adunan cream cheese perlahan2 dan ratakan ke
atas adunan coklat.
Kukus 15-20 minit sehingga permukaan kek kering.
4. Akhir sekali tuangkan adunan coklat dan kukus selama
30 minit.
5. Angkat dan sejukkan kek sebeleum di keluarkan dari
tin.
Tunggu sehingga betul2 sejuk sebelum di hiris dan dihidangkan.
TIPS MENGUKUS:
Di sini Along nak kongsikan cara2 Along kukus kek ni. Sebelum ni ramai yg bertanya cara2 nak kukus kek....
Tin kek yg di gunakan di sni hanya 8" bulat, jadi nak jimatkan perkakas, tak susah2 nak basuh banyak2 lapisan pengukus, Along gunakan periuk biasa sahaja:
1. Letak lapik pengukus atau apa2 jaring besi pun ok:
2. Letak air secukup nya dan didihkan sehingga betul2 menggelegak.
3. Balut tin kek dgn aluminium seperti gambar di bawah & letakkan atas pelapik pengukus.
4.Letakkan sehelai tuala bersih dan tutup.
Kukus kek seperti arahan resipi.

Marble Cake (Kek Marble Trio)
Hi there...! It has been almost a year since the last entry.... missing my blog so much... This effort takes a lot of patience as my telephone line and internet still not yet connected.... using mobile data isn't very efficient and fun.... slow like turtle run... :(
Anyway, here is something to break the silence.

Size: 8" square
INGREDIENTS:
300g Butter
280g Flour*
1 tbs Milk Powder*
1 tsp Baking Powder* (* sift)
250g Caster Sugar
1 tbsp Ovalet
5 Eggs (grade A)
50ml Milk
Fruit/Veg Paste - of your choice.... I used yam, choc, screwpine
CARA2:
1. Beat butter until white & fluffy.
Add in flour gradually until well mixed.
2. Whisk sugar & ovalet until evenly mixed.
Add in all the egg and whisk until thick.
Add in butter mixture bit by bit until well mixed.
3. Divide into three or four portions and add the preferred flavour paste into each.
4. Line and grease the tin.
Spoon each portion into the base of the tin alternately until all used up.
Make a ripple pattern using skewer or knife.
5. Bake 180C for 55 minutes or until cooked.

Assalamualaikum semua pembaca2 yg Along rindui.... Dah hampir setahun blog ni senyap jer.... tersangat rindu oleh itu walau pun internet mobile yg tersangkut-sangkut ni ku gagahkan jua.... Sedih nya dah hampir dua tahun permohonan untuk talian talipon dan wifi tidak dapat di makbulkan oleh pihak Telekom atas sebab2 yg tidak dapat di pahami.... Kalau ada sesiapa yg kerja Telekom kot2 boleh tarik untuk Along kat Taiping ni amatlah di alu2kan.... sob2....
Untuk memecahkan kesunyian.... Along kongsikan di sini kek yg Along buat kelmarin untuk hidangan sedara yg datang jauh dari Sarawak.... Kek ni lembut dan rasa lemak butter memang sedap... Along suka sbb kek tak berminyak jadi makan banyak pun tak jemu.
Kek ni asal nya Cik Mat guna 3 warna... tu lah sebab nama nya Trio... tapi Along terlebih warna pulak.... heheeee

Masukkan adunan mentega sedikit2 sehingga rata.
3. Bahagi kepada tiga atau empat bahagian dan warnakan sesuka anda menggunakan pes perisa.
4. Sediakan tin yg berlapik kertas & bergris.
Sudukan adunan berselang-seli warna sehingga habis.
Cucuk lidi atau pisau sehingga ke dasar tin dan lorekkan secara rambang untuk corak marble.
5. Bakar 180C selama 55 minit atau sehingga masak.

Nestum Cake (Kek Nestum)
Hello.... helloooo.... hello all HomeKreation readers! It has been a long time since my last appearance.... yeah, 9 months of silence.... trying to adjust to my new life in the new place and with a lot greater responsibility than ever.... Too many things to do with too little capacity but slowly getting there!
I'm going away soon.... far away from this place for a long duration.... a destination that I've been dreaming for a long time.... a place far away from normal life.... somewhere crowded but hopefully peaceful.... So I thought tonight I want to share one great recipe just to break the silence before I disappear to the peaceful land.....
A guest is coming tomorrow morning to do us a favour.... guiding us to ensure our journey to the peaceful land is fruitful. So I bake this cake specially for the guest and very please with the outcome. It is crumbly and soft with nice nestum aroma. We had it hot from the oven with crispy crust.... my hubby had four pieces on the first attack....LOL.

Modified the method slightly
Size: 8" square
BAHAN2:
250g Butter
140g Caster Sugar
1 tbap Honey
3 Eggs
220g Self-Raising Flour*
1/2 tbsp Baking Powder*
60g Nestum Cereal* (* mix)
150ml Fesh Milk
METHOD:
1. Beat butter, sugar and honey until light and fluffy.
2. Add in eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
3. Add in flour* mixture gradually, alternately with milk; until combined.
4. Pour into lined and greased tin.
5. Bake in preheated oven 180C for 45 minutes.

Assalamualiakum semua.... lama nya tak buka blog ni.... bukan tak mau tapi takda kesempatan dan kemudahan semenjak berpindah ke kampong ni. Dah Sembilan bulan Along menyepi... maaf lah semua ya....
Malam ni bila buat kek ni tetiba Allah bukakan hati untuk berkongsi di blog.... untuk memecah kesunyian blog yg terpinggir begitu lama. Lagi pun tak lama lagi Along nak berangkat jauh, sebelum tu nak kongsikan resipi yg sedap ni dgn semua. Terima-kasih buat tuan empunya resipi dan blog Matahari yang berkongsi resipi ini.

BAHAN2:

1 sb Madu
3 bj Telur
220g Tepung Naik Sendiri*
1/2 sb Baking Powder*
60g Nestum Cereal* (* gaulkan)
150ml Susu Segar
CARA2:
1. Pukul mentega, gula & madu sehingga putih.
2. Masukkan telur satu-persatu sambil di pukul sebati.
3. Gaulkan campuran tepung & nestum* sedikit2 dan di selang-seli dgn susu; sehingga sebati.
4. Tuang ke dlm tin yg di lapik kertas & di gris.
5. Bakar 180C selama 45 minit atau sehingga masak.
