It took me whole morning slicing & frying the bananas but it worths the effort as it is sooo crispy & tasty. I adjusted the level of salt to my taste (don'tlike it salty) & it just perfect! The whole bunch of bananas produces a huge tupperware of chips:
Here is simple way to make banana chips:
INGREDIENTS:
Young Bananas
Salt
A lot of oil for deep fryingMETHOD:
1. Peel the bananas & soaked in salty water just for a while.
Drain in a colander.
2. Heat up a lot of oil in a big wok.
Slice bananas directly into the hot oil.
Fry until crispy (do not brown).
3. Cool & keep in an airtight container.
On request of TC Leow, here is the picture of the slicer that I used:
Oh, u soak them before u fry. I tot Malays like to put concentrated salt solution into the frying wok at the end of the frying session.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love that! Love to eat chips! ;)
ReplyDeleteWendy,
ReplyDeleteyeah, you are right that's the typical way. Anyway, I personally do not like to add salt to frying oil.
Love,
You can eat as much as you like as I made really a lot!

Jean
Amy,
ReplyDeleteAlala shian nya adikku sorang ni... amik je lah satu tupperware besor tu bawa balik...hehe
TC Leow / Jean,
ReplyDeleteI guess most types of bananas can be turned into chips and very rare are tasteless/bland when young. Make sure it has not yet soften otherwise your chips are not going to be crispy.
Salam Along...

TC Leow,
Yes, you need to use unripe ones. Try to find in an open market where Malays are selling. Mine is pisang Abu.
