I made this right away when I saw it at Yochana's blog since I have all the ingredients available. This is more dessert than cake as the texture is moist and sweet.
I have skipped some ingredients which I don't favour like spices and orange skin.
So here is the recipe the way I made it:
INGREDIENTS (make 6 cups):
100g Eggs (2 medium eggs)
120g Dates (boil with 80 g water till thick and weigh out 175g)25g Cocoa powder
3 tbsp Flour
¼ tsp Baking powder
50g Cream or Evaporated Milk
50g chopped White Chocolate or Chocolate Chips
GULA MELAKA SYRUP:
125g Gula Melaka (Palm Sugar)
60g Whipping Cream (I replaced this with Evaporated Milk)
- Put into a pot and cook till gula melaka dissolves.
1. Cream butter and sugar till creamy.
Add in eggs and mix till well combined.
Add in date paste & mix well.
Add in the dry ingredients alternating with milk.
Lastly add in white chocolate.
2. Spoon into heat proof cup or ramekins.
Steam over high heat for about 30 mins.
3. Serve with gula melaka sauce.
