JJCM at Ieera Kitchen aka FB friend

 Malam kelmarin Along, hubby & Liana gi JJCM kat Ieera Kitchen which was belonged to sis Hanifah, my lovely FB friend that we met once last month at our home. Ieera Kitchen ni bertempat kat Taman Seroja ditengah2 kota Miri. Tak pernah pun ke taman selera ni sebelum ni - rupa2 nya ada fresh cooking, seafood dan macam2 lagi.

Sis Hanifah ni baik sangat orang nya dan peramah. Siap buatkan bingka durian untuk Along lagi dan tapao Kerabu Su'un. Kat bawah ni gambar2 makanan yg Along order malam tu... semua nya sedap! Along sebenar nya demam malam tu, selera pun kurang sebab tekak dah pahit tapi dalam demam pun selera juga makan malam tu. Siapa2 kat Miri sila lah ke Ieera Kitchen ya.

TQ so much sis Hanifah for hospitality & hope to meet you again.

Congo Bars

 This was once a very popular cake amongst the bloggers... Only yesterday that I managed to try it out, when it is already rarely visible... It was for our family picnic at the beach. The texture was moist but a bit too sweet for my preference. I'll reduce the sugar a bit if I were to make this again. Similarly, the two boys and Liana didn't show much interest too, not sure why.... Overall I think it tastes good with the melting bitter chocolate chips which AlongRiz brought back from US several months ago.

Retyped for own ease of reference
Makes 13"x9" tin
(I made half portion of below recipe in 8" round tin)
INGREDIENTS:
2¾ cup Flour*
2½ tsp Baking Powder*
½ tsp Salt*
(* sifted)

150g Butter
300g Light Brown Sugar
3 Eggs (I used 2 small for half portion)
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
270g Chocolate Chips


METHOD:
1. Combine butter and sugar using a mixer until blended.
Add eggs, one at a time to sugar mixture, mixing on low in between each addition.
Add vanilla and mix.
Add flour and mix until combined.
Stir in chocolate chips.

2. Pour into lined & greased tin.
Bake at 170C for 30 minutes or until top is golden brown.
Make sure you don’t over bake!




BAHASA MALAYSIA VERSION
Along sekeluarga berkelah di tepi pantai kelmarin.... takda cuti panjang, jadi kita orang bersantai di Miri sahaja lah. Subuh2 lagi Along buat kek ni dan masak Mushroom Cheese Pasta. Cuaca amat baik, seronok nya Along bersantai di tepi pantai dgn angin sepoi2 sambil baca buku " A Doctor In The House" yg dah lama di beli tapi takda masa nak abiskan.... Hubby lak gi jogging kat tepi pantai & Liana main sand castle... dah berapa hari merengek2 nak main sand castel... hitam Liana berjemur tapi seronok amat. Tak sempat nak abiskan banyak membaca, tetiba AngahRuz pucat lesi sakit perut... kita pun gulung tikar jerlah & bawa dia ke Columbia Asia... rupa2 nya dia sakit perut side effect antibiotik yg dia makan sebelum ni kerana demam. Selepas tu kita orang pun terus balik rumah.....huuuuu

Kek ni popular tahun lepas tapi Along baru ni sempat mencuba. Kek nya agak manis pada selera Along, kena kurangkan sedikit gula nya. Kek nya sedap & lembab kena pula dengan bitter chocolate bits yg AlongRiz beli kat US. Entah kenapa tak laku pula kek kali ni... my two boys & Liana cam tak heran langsung.... agak nya musim demam ni selera pun kurang...

Resepi dalam BI di atas ya, malas nak translate... kalau sesiapa nak dalam BM, kasitau kat comment ya.

Green Bean Vegetable Curry

 Simple lovely dish that goes well with any rice or roti. Utilizing the gift from a lovely friend... she gave me a packet of green beans which she suggested for Kuih Angku filling but this dish is my favourite especially nice to go along with roti canai.

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup Peeled Green Beans
1 tbsp Curry Powder
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
Assorted veg - carrot, long beans, brinjal, potato
Coconut Milk
1 Cinnamon stick
3 Shallots*
1 Garlic* (*sliced) 
Salt

METHOD:
1. Boil green beans until cooked.
2. Place all ingredients in a pot, except shallots & garlic.
Cook until boiled and veg are soft.
3. Heat up few tbsp oil & stir-fry onion & garlic until golden brown.
Pour oil & onions into the cooked curry.
4. Serve with rice or roti.

BAHASA MALAYSIA VERSION
Ini lauk yg mudah di sediakan dan kesukaan Along dari kecil dan Along suka makan ni dengan roti canai. Baru2 ni sahabat Along dari KL beri sebungkus, katanya untuk buat inti Kuih Angku. Tapi takpa lah kan sis, Along buat lauk ni jer sebab dah lama tak masak lauk ni. Kalau rajin, belen tu nanti Along buatkan sesuatu lain pula ya. Kacang hijau ni tak da pula terjumpa kat Miri ni.

BAHAN2:
1/2 cwn Kacang Hijau tak berkulit
1 sb Serbuk Kari
1 st Serbuk Kunyit
Sayuran - karot, kcg pjg, terung, kentang
Santan
1 bth Kulit Kayu Manis
3 ulas Bwg Merah*
1 ulas Bwg putih* (*hiris) 
Garam

CARA2:
1. Rebus kacang hijau sehingga empuk.
2. Letakkan kesemua bahan2, kecuali bwg*, ke dlm periuk & masak sehingga mendidih & sayur empuk.
3. Panaska beberapa sudu minyak & goreng hirisan bawang* sehingga garing.
Tuangkan minyak & bwg ke dalam kari sayur.
4. Hidangkan bersama nasi atau roti.

Durian Ukak Fritters (Durian Ukak Goreng)

 I thought I was going to stop new entry on durian.... but I just cannot help myself.... this God creature is really heavenly delicious that I can create so many things out of it. Last year was hardly any durian through out the year in Miri but this year was abundance! I bought 7 Durian Ukak for only RM10 few days ago!

The flesh is firmer than typical durian, so I imagined that it must be nice if I deep fry it. I was absolutely right.... it turned out to be so delicious that Liana ate 3 pieces! She hardly ate anything much after recovering from the recent fever and am delighted to see her enjoying it. Ukak is known as non-heaty, not like the typical durian so I'm sure it is ok to feed Liana with it.

The obvious distinction from the typical durian is its vivid color (however this one is lighter), much smaller size (about a human palm size), hair around its stem, soft thorns, firmer flesh and less stenchy. One may mistaken this from Durian Isu that I shared earlier here due to similar size and vivid aorange color but you can tell from the shape of the thornes - they taste very different too which I don't know how to describe it.


 
To make durian fritters, dip the pulps (with seeds intact) into your favourite fritters batter. Deep fry until batter is crispy. Serve for morning or evening tea. I used the batter recipe from here.

 
BAHASA MALAYSIA VERSION
Hari tu kata tak nak tayang menu durian dah, kan dah berderet2 menu durian... hehe tak boleh tahan godaan durian ni lah.... ni lepas geram sebab tahun lepas Miri takda durian sangat tapi tahun ni mmg berlambak2 & harga pun murah. Along beli Durian Ukak ni cuma RM10 untuk 7 biji. 

Sebelum ni dah ada Along tayang Durian Ukak kat sini. Durian Ukak ni tak sama dengan Durian Isu yg Along tayangkan baru2 ni kat sini. Rasa nya amat berbeda walaupun isi nya sama berwarna jingga terang. Ukak ni berbulu di tangkai nya, isi nya lebih pejal dari durian biasa, bersaiz kecil sebesar tapak tangan jer dan bau nya tak kuat sangat. Along memang suka makan Ukak di bandingkan dengan Isu.

Along saja jer cuba nak goreng sebab banyak Ukak yg Along beli tu tak abis makan begitu sahaja. Along bayangkan isi nya yg pejal tu tentu sedap jika di goreng - memang tepat sekali bayangan tu.... isi yg digoreng tu rangup di luar & kenyal2 di dalam. Anak2 & hubby kata sedap.... Liana pun makan sampai 3 ketul. Durian Ukak ni tak panas badan jika di makan banyak, jadi takda masalah kasi bebudak makan.

Untuk resipi:
Celupkan ulas durian (dgn biji nya sekali) ke dalam tepung gorengan & goreng dgn minyak dalam sehingga tepung nya rangup. Boleh guna resepi apa2 pun utk tepung gorengan tapi Along suka resipi HaSue yg Along dah buat banyak kali - boleh rujuk di sini.

 Specially made for my best friend to serve during her son's birthday party last week. It is 4.44am right now when I'm typing this.... so just enjoys the pix. It is going to be a busy day for me as usual in week-ends for routine chores as well as ad hoc matters. Happy week-end everyone.
