Bubur Pedas ( Sarawak Spicy Mixed Vegetable )

This is a speciality from Sarawak commonly served in Ramadhan. The main ingredient is the Bubur Pedas bumbu (spices) which are sold by locals specially in Ramadhan month. The must have vegetables are Midin (red fern), young corns, long beans and black fungus. Other vegetables are added according to individual's preference. Beef, chicken or prawns are added to complement the vegetables.

Serve 10-12 people
INGREDIENTS:
1 packet Bubur Pedas Bumbu
200g Beef - sliced to small bits & boiled untl tender 
200g Shrimps - peeled 
5 tbsp Chilli paste
5 Shallots*
3 cloves Garlic* (* pounded) 
1 inch Ginger - bruised 
½ pot Coconut Milk
1 piece Dried Beancurd sheet**
Dried Mushroom**
Some Black fungus** (** soaked & cut to small bits) 
Midin***
Young Corns***
Long Beans***
Brinjal***
Potato***
Carrot***
1-2 Turmeric leaf***
Daun Singkel***
Polygonum (Daun Kesum)*** (*** sliced or cut to small bits) 
few tbsp Oil
Salt

METHODS:
1. Heat up oil & fry pounded ingredients & chilli paste until fragrant.
Add in bumbu & stir for a while.
Add in beef, shrimp & stir again.
Add in coconut milk and boil.
Add in hard vegetables first and when they are soften add in the remaining vegetables.
Salt to taste.
Boil for a while longer and ready.

2. Serve by itself or with white rice.
